The Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov met with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Ivan Korchok on October 19.
During the meeting it was noted that an active political dialogue was held between the two countries. It was mentioned that Azerbaijan is interested in further developing cooperation with EU member states.
Prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and Slovakia in terms of trade economy, energy, transport, transit, investment and other sectors were discussed.
Prime Minister Ali Asadov noted that the transport corridors through Azerbaijan, including the Zangazur corridor, would be of interest to Slovakia and the EU, stressing on the opportunities for cooperation in the digital and green economies.
It was noted that Azerbaijan is interested in the participation of companies from friendly countries, including Slovakia, in the restoration process of its liberated lands.
Foreign and European Affairs Minister Ivan Korchok stressed that Slovakia supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and the importance of extending good political relations to the economic sphere.
At the end, an agreement on economic cooperation was signed between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Slovakia. The agreement was signed by the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Mikayil Jabbarov, and the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic – Ivan Korchok.
According to the agreement, the Azerbaijan-Slovakia Joint Working Group on Economic Cooperation is going to be established in order to coordinate and promote bilateral economic cooperation.
