EXCERPT FROM LABOR CODE OF THE REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN
On Novruz, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr holidays
Article 105. Holidays
1. Holidays of the Republic of Azerbaijan are the following:
New Year's Day (January 1 and 2);
Women's Day (March 8)
Victory Day (May 9)
Independence Day (May 28)
Day of National Salvation of the Azerbaijani People (June 15)
Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan (June 26)
National Independence Day (October 18)
Victory Day (November 8)
National Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan (November 9)
Constitution Day (November 12)
National Revival Day (November 17)
Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis (December 31)
Novruz holiday – five days;
Eid al-Adha – two days;
Eid al-Fitr – two days.
2. New Year's Day, Women's Day, Victory Day, Independence Day, Day of National Salvation of the Azerbaijani People, Armed Forces Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, National Flag Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis, Novruz holiday, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr shall be considered days off.
3. No employees shall be employed on days off except for occasions specified by this Labor Code.
4. Days to celebrate Novruz holiday, Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr shall be determined and made public by the relevant executive authority until the end of every December.
5. In case days off coincide with holidays, the day off shall be transferred to the next working day after the holiday.
6. In case Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr coincide with other holidays considered days off, the next working day shall be considered a day off.
7. In case holidays and weekly days off follow each other or vice versa, working days and days off can be changed, as decided by the relevant executive authority, in order to ensure the succession of working days and days off.
