On December 12, an international forum marking the International Year of Peace and Trust (2025), the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, commenced in Ashgabat.

Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, participated in the plenary session of the forum.

In his remarks, Azerbaijan's PM Ali Asadov commended Turkmenistan's UN-recognized neutrality, highlighting Azerbaijan's support for neutrality resolutions and the "International Year of Peace and Trust – 2025" resolution. The PM noted that Azerbaijan highly values Turkmenistan's initiative to establish a University of Neutrality under the auspices of the UN, while expressing readiness to actively join in the university's activity.

Describing Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan as active members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the second-largest international organization after the UN, Ali Asadov noted that both countries demonstrate their commitment to the Movement's principles of dialogue and solidarity.

The Azerbaijani PM highlighted the deep historical, spiritual, and cultural bonds between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, noting their fraternal ties and the dynamic growth in interstate relations recently.

PM Ali Asadov noted that the recent reciprocal visits and meetings between the two leaders have opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, elevating them to a qualitatively new level of strategic partnership. In this regard, he underlined the significance of President Ilham Aliyev's working visit to Turkmenistan in August, noting that the high-level meeting held between Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan had become an important platform for enhancing regional cooperation and fostering multilateral connections.

PM Ali Asadov also emphasized the importance of the visit of Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan in July, as well as his visit to the cities of Fuzuli and Shusha. The PM also expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for the initiative to build a mosque, the foundation of which was laid in Fuzuli as part of the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Gabala in October of this year.

Prime Minister Ali Asadov highlighted Azerbaijan's strengthening ties with Central Asia, particularly stressing the significance of Azerbaijan's becoming a full-fledged participant of the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia.
