Ali Asadov, Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister, met with Ian Saunders, Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), on July 13.
During the meeting, the sides hailed the development of a long-term and fruitful partnership between Azerbaijan and the WCO.
Ali Asadov highlighted the ongoing reforms implemented in Azerbaijan’s customs system, emphasizing the importance of cooperation with the WCO on the implementation of international standards.
The parties exchanged views on the projects aimed at facilitating international trade, modernizing customs procedures, and ensuring the sustainability of global supply chains.
The discussions also covered the expansion of customs cooperation within the regional and international transport corridors, the development of the Middle Corridor and the strengthening of its transit potential.
The parties discussed prospects for advancing cooperation between Azerbaijan and the WCO across various areas.
Shahin Baghirov, Chairman of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee, also attended the meeting.
